Hi 2010 Mud Rats

I sure you have all had time to flush the mud and grit from your eyes and are ready once again to read the first of many newsletters building up towards the dusty 2011 events. You should find these letters very basic and simple, because that is the way we are. Should you read them you will be thoroughly prepared for what we hope will be a great experience? If there is something you cannot find or there is something you need, feel free to contact one of us and we will assure that it gets our attention.
Subaru sani2c has out grown us in many respects and we are determined to keep it under control. So for the 7th edition in 2011 enjoy the ride as we pull in the reins in an attempt to keep everything under control.
There has been a lot of deep thinking happening on the stoep since the last event.
As you know, n Boer maak n plan, and an Englishman makes it work. So there are some changes as we gear up to the opening dates for entries. The most significant of these being the date change and the reduction in the number of competitors.

Hi 2010 Mud Wrestlers

I’m sure some of you will appreciate the reminder regarding the opening of entries to all 2010 competitors.
The entry form will be available for you on our website today at 12 noon. As a 2010 competitor you will have first refusal for a single team entry for the 2011 events. You will be able to swop out between the Race and the Adventure if you choose. Should you and your partner wish to split up the entry system will only allow one team member to enter. You will need to decide between you and your 2010 team mate as to who will take your entry. Unfortunately I do not have the skills to help settle these inter partner issues. Please remember we also only allow one substitution per team.

The recent sardine run in Scottburgh with its frenzied Indian community had nothing on you guys when entries opened on the 2 August. As with the annual rush to the beach it seemed that every cousin brother and aunt had been instructed to help you secure your catch. Not only did our IT partner Entelect experience a 300% increase in traffic but also had some new and unique entry methods. In desperation, after a number of classic system crashes, the Entelect team gurus were successful with the help of NASA’s main frame to beef up the site. (Fishy?)

I trust that you are all back after a well earned break and that the silly season has not had the same effect on your waist line as it has on mine. “Bang” went my chances in the six pack challenge with my kids, but as they say – it’s always good to have a challenge. Speaking of which, here is a challenge which should get you and your team mate training and could earn you some good money off your competition.

Intrepid travellers in search of a South African safari with a difference should try the nine-day Old Mutual joBerg2c mountain bike event, writes Coetzee Gouws.

IT is said that three stray bullets in the Battle of Spioenkop in colonial South Africa could have altered the course of global history.

The year was 1900 and the massive hilltop in present-day KwaZulu-Natal served as a fortress for Boer fighters during the Second War of Independence with Britain.
